Eastern Gateway Community College and Chancellor University Complete Successful First Term
October 19, 2012
Steubenville, Ohio and Seven Hills, Ohio, October 19, 2012 – Chancellor University and Eastern Gateway Community College’s partnership to bring a bachelor’ degree in accounting to students at Eastern Gateway has proven to be an enormous success. Students in the first round of enrollment have reported satisfaction with classes, customer service and overall program experience.
“I can’t tell you how pleased I am with the courses,” said Eastern Gateway-Chancellor Univ. partnership student, Renea Riesen. “I feel I am receiving a valuable education and that I am really learning. I tell everybody how happy I am with Chancellor and I am so glad I signed up.”
Classmate Brittany Minor added, “Taking a class through Chancellor University was a great decision for me. I learned so much through this eight week course, and got to interact with new people on a whole new level. The people at Chancellor are wonderful to work with and are always there to help with anything you need.”
The teaching team for the program includes Dr. Kenneth Knox, assistant professor and program director of Eastern Gateway’s business management program. Knox is a respected educator at Eastern Gateway and an esteemed instructor with students. Joseph Brom, assistant professor of economics and philosophy at Eastern Gateway, will be teaching Introduction to Investments for Chancellor University in the upcoming October session.
“Dr. Knox is a great teacher and I am looking forward to having Professor Brom teach the investments class. I know I will learn a lot from him as well,” said Riesen.
As part of Eastern Gateway-Chancellor Univ. partnership, students who have earned – or will earn – their associate’s degree in accounting can transfer up to 64 credits toward their bachelor’s degree from Chancellor while having the option to take classes onsite at Eastern Gateway, online, or a combination of both.
“Chancellor has done a great job in getting the Eastern Gateway project off the ground. The students have been very engaged and I think a lot of the credit goes to the organization and planning that CU put into making the kick-off a success,” said Knox. “The students come to class prepared and they have continually told me how pleased they are with the customer service they are receiving from everyone at Chancellor. As a facilitator, I have found CU personnel very easy to work with. I'm glad I'm on the team.”
Chancellor University’s Professor Jason Wood, Program Chair of the Undergraduate College of Business and lead faculty of accounting, added, “We are excited that the first enrollment group is experiencing such tremendous success with Chancellor’s accounting program at Eastern Gateway. This partnership is helping to prepare students for exciting careers in accounting and for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam.”
