Why you should use the Library Databases

Do you have a paper to write? Do you need to research a topic?

Chancellor University Library provides you with access to a wide variety of digital resources including journal and magazine articles, e-books, newspapers, general reference materials, educational videos and business and legal information. These databases are easy to use, and provide you with access to published materials (in digital form).

Each of the databases provided by Chancellor's library has been selected to support our curriculum. Credo Reference is a collection of reference books including encyclopedias, dictionaries, and specialized titles such as the Cambridge World History of Food & Beverage and the Encyclopedia of African History. LexisNexis allows you to search for legal information, research a company, and search the news. GreenFILE includes resources on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and recycling.

Select the database you wish to use. Note that there are descriptions of the content in the alphabetical listing below.
Select off-campus.
At the login prompt, type your last name.
For your ID#, type the complete number, starting with the letter P:
For example: P000123456

You have to use the whole number, starting with the letter P. And those are zeros after the P, not the letter O.

If you do not know your ID# contact Library staff at (216) 432-8990 or by email at library@ChancellorU.edu.
You can also contact your academic advisor to find out what your university ID# is.

Academic Search Complete
Academic Search Complete includes more than 7,900 full-text periodicals, including more than 6,800 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 11,900 journals and a total of more than 12,000 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.

Agricola
This database contains bibliographic records from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library. Coverage for AGRICOLA dates back to 1970 and includes more than 4.8 million citations. The citations are comprised of journal articles, monographs, theses, patents, software, audiovisual materials, and technical reports related to agriculture.

This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers libraries full text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts. Alt HealthWatch provides in-depth coverage across the full spectrum of subject areas covered by complementary and alternative medicine. This database features indexing and abstracts going back as far as 1984.

Humanities International Complete provides full text of hundreds of journals, books and other published sources from around the world. Produced by Whitston Publishing (an imprint of EBSCO Publishing), this database includes all data from Humanities International Index (more than 2,200 journals and 2.80 million records) plus unique full text content, much of which is not found in other databases. The database includes full text for nearly 1,200 journals.

MathSciNet
MathSciNet is an electronic publication offering access to a carefully maintained and easily searchable database of reviews, abstracts and bibliographic information for much of the mathematical sciences literature. Over 100,000 new items are added each year, most of them classified according to the Mathematics Subject Classification. Authors are uniquely identified, enabling a search for publications by individual author rather than by name string. MathSciNet contains over 2 million items and over 1 million direct links to original articles. Bibliographic data from retrodigitized articles dates back to the early 1800s. Reference lists are collected and matched internally from over 400 journals, and citation data for journals, authors, articles and reviews is provided. This web of citations allows users to track the history and influence of research publications in the mathematical sciences.
