Chancellor University welcomes applications from all qualified students. Applications for admission are considered primarily in light of the applicant's academic qualifications. Any qualified student willing to uphold the University's vision and mission and open to intellectual development is encouraged to apply.

Chancellor University does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, national origin, gender, or handicap in its programs and activities. The information below provides an overview of Chancellor University's undergraduate admission requirements for earning a degree both online and on campus. In addition, you can find more specific details on the admission process in our academic catalog.

Undergraduate Requirements

All applicants are considered on their individual merits. Prospective students must hold a high school diploma or its U.S. equivalent. You must submit the following information to your admissions associate:

  • Application
  • Application Fee
  • Enrollment Agreement
  • Certification of high school graduation or equivalent

Each applicant must have earned one of the following educational credentials from a Chancellor University recognized organization: a high school diploma or equivalent, a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or a post-secondary degree. An official transcript (or equivalent documentation)with the high school or college grade point average (GPA) and graduation date must be provided for the student's file prior to admission.

Chancellor University recommends a certain level of academic preparation to provide a solid foundation for undergraduate success. To promote such success, admission to the University does not necessarily guarantee admission to some programs of study for which the standards are more rigorous. Students interested in applying to the University should have a minimum 2.3 GPA. Once granted admission, each student will be required to complete a placement test or verify they have received an ACT score of18 or SAT score of 870+.

Graduate Requirements

To qualify for admission for an advanced degree program at Chancellor University, we require the following credentials:

  • Application.
  • Application Fee
  • Enrollment Agreement
  • Proof of completion of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Any undergraduate major will be considered, but if it varies widely from a proposed graduate major, you may need to take certain undergraduate foundation courses.
  • Official copies of transcripts from all other colleges or universities attended.
  • A minimum of a 2.8 undergraduate grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

International Requirements

For Individuals that are not seeking a visa to enter the U.S.A., there are several items that you will need to complete and submit:

  • Application
  • Application Fee
  • Enrollment Agreement
  • Plan for how you will finance your education.
  • Official Transcripts

Chancellor University offers payment plans for those who are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid. We also offer corporate tuitionassistant payment plans for those individuals receiving corporate assistancefrom their company

All official school records and test scores must be submitted to Chancellor University in a sealed envelope from the institution(s) you have previously attended. In addition, if your transcripts are from a country other than the U.S., you will need to have them translated.

English translations should include information such as the names of the courses included, grades earned on a 4.0 scale, credits awarded per course, the cumulative GPA, degree earned, and the documentation of graduation. If the institution in which you are transferring from is considered a medium – English speaking institution, this information should also be included in the translation.

Chancellor University suggests the use of a NACES approved organization for translations. www.naces.org or www.ets.org.

If English is not your primary language or your transcripts need to be translated, you will need to document English proficiency using one of the options below. Scores are applicable to both the graduate and undergraduate programs.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    • A minimum score of 520, Computer Base Test (CBT) 200, Internet Based Test (IBT) 80 - Register for the online test here.

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
    • A minimum score of 190 is required for undergraduate admission. Students may also show English proficiency through local testing.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
    • A minimum score of 6.50.

If a degree was earned from an English speaking school (must be documented), then a TOEFL score may not berequired. You may also be able to document English Proficiency by fulfilling an option below:

  • If you have earned a degree from a US school (AA, AS, BA, BS, MS, PHD, etc.) you will not be required to submit documentation of English proficiency.

  • If you transfer in a course equivalent to Chancellor University's EN 115, Written and Oral Communication I, you will not be required to submit documentation of English proficiency. In order to transfer a course to Chancellor, you must have earned a grade of C or better.

  • If you are able to document that your previous institution is a medium - English speaking institution, you will not be required to submit documentation of English proficiency.

Transferring Credits

Undergraduate Students:

Students holding an Associate's degree earned at a regionally accredited institution may be granted junior class standing upon admission to Chancellor University, providing the Associate's degree was attained in studies compatible with programs offered by Chancellor University.

Transfer credit is granted only for courses in which the student received a grade of "C" or above. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Vice President ofAcademic Affairs or Provost.

Elective credits earned at another institution may be accepted for transfer, providing they are similar in content to courses offered by Chancellor University. Non-comparable courses may be accepted on a limited basis as electives.

Additionally, within the 30 semester hours of course work required for the Bachelor's degree (15hours for the Associate's degree), transfer students must complete a minimum of 9 semester hours of course work for grades in their major or specialization at Chancellor University. Direct Assessment, the Portfolio Review Process, Credit by Examination, CLEP, and Dantes Testing cannot be used to satisfy either the 30-hour (15 for Associate's degree) residency requirement, or 9-hour major or specialization requirement. Residency requirement waived for Military students.

Transfer or returning students may be required to repeat certain accounting and/or technology (computer) courses taken more than three to five years prior, depending on the program or courses in question.

Dantes Testing (DSST) - The University accepts Dantes Testing (DSST) credits. DSST provides students an opportunity to obtain college credit for what they have learned in non-traditional ways. For more information, test sites, and minimum scores required for credit, visit the DSST website at www.getcollegecredit.com. DSST credit may not be used toward the University's residency requirements. Residency requirement waived for Military students.

CLEP Tests - The University accepts College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) test credits. CLEP provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement by taking exams in various subject areas. For more information, test sites, and minimum scores required for credit, visit the CLEP website at www.collegeboard.com. CLEP credit may not be used toward the University's residency requirements. Residency requirement waived for Military students.

Graduate Students:

Graduate Students are permitted to transfer a maximum of six (6) hours of graduate credit from another accredited institution. Classes with a grade of less than B- will not be eligible for transfer credit. Once a student begins the graduate program at Chancellor University, he/she may not take classes at another institution for transfer credit or request transfer credit for any classes not identified before beginning the program.

Transfer or returning students may be required to repeat certain accounting and/or technology (computer) courses taken more than three to five years prior, depending on the program or courses in question.

Returning (Former) Students:

Returning (formerly enrolled) students who have not attended Chancellor University for one or more years must contact the Office of Admissions to apply for re-admission to the University. Returning students who are not Chancellor University Alumni are required to pay an additional application fee. If the student has attended another institution during theperiod of absence, official transcripts must be submitted to the Office of Admissions as a condition of re-admission. Returning students may also be required to take a placement test before enrolling in English and/or math classes.
Students who return to the University after an absence of one or more years, during which time they did not earn any credits at Chancellor University, must satisfy program requirements in the catalog in force at the time of their return. This policy applies regardless of the number of credits earned under a previous catalog.

Non-Matriculating Students:

A non-matriculating student is a student who is not pursuing a degree program at Chancellor University. Enrolling in courses under either of the options listed below may limit or eliminate the opportunity to use any form of financial aid. All students enrolled at Chancellor are required to meet all prerequisites. Please speak with your Admission Advisor for more information.

Provisional Students:

Provisional students are not enrolled in a degree or certificate program. They are required to submit an application and pay theapplication fee, but are not required to submit official high school or college transcripts or college test scores. Provisional students may take up to nine credit hours. Students who wish to complete more than nine credit hours or choose to enroll in a degree or certificate program must complete the admission application procedure, including submission of all credentials required in the admissions process. Provisional students are not eligible for financial assistance.

Transient Students:

A student enrolled at another college or University who wishes to take course work at Chancellor University and intends to return to his/her home institution for continued study, may attend Chancellor University as a transient student. The student must submit an approved transient form from his/her home institution, complete a Chancellor University application form, and pay the application fee, prior to enrolling. There is no limit to the number of classes a student may take on a transient basis, and the transient registration can be processed any time during the University's registrationperiods

Admissions Denial or Revocation:

Admission to Chancellor University may be denied or revoked if the University learns that an individual has engaged in conduct that indicates to the University that he/she is not ready to be a responsible member of the University community. The University will examine, on an individual basis, cases where the health, safety, and welfare of members of the University community, in its judgment, may be an issue. Document falsification or failure to disclose information may also result in denial or revocation of admission to Chancellor University. Please contact the Office of Admissions for information.
